SAFETY

A fundamental pillar of our commitment

Our Safety Policy

Safety has been a major concern for the FOSELEV Group since its inception.

As forerunners in this field, we have made Safety the fundamental pillar of our commitment.

Our policy translates into a daily investment on the part of our managers and all our teams, to strive for zero accidents through :

  • A Q3SER Policy designed to maintain collective mobilization,
  • 12 SAFETY PILLARS, enabling all our employees to refer to a common set of safety guidelines,
  • A strong SHE Commitment, driving a desire for progress.

Our mastery of technical standards and our ongoing acquisition of the most stringent certifications, such as MASE, ISO 19443 and CEFRI, enable us to operate in the most demanding sectors in full compliance, while ensuring the safety of our employees.

Safety within the FOSELEV Group is linked to the concrete actions implemented on a daily basis by our 50 QSSE correspondents to support our employees:

  • A Safety Inductions is organized and a Welcome Booklet is given to each new employee,
  • Monthly Safety Briefings are given to all staff in the branch, to inform them about safety rules and to gather feedback from everyone involved, in order to improve our processes and methods relating to the safety of our employees,
  • Site Preparation Meetings are held before each new shift to define operating procedures and safety instructions in advance,
  • Safety Newsflashes are issued regularly to raise staff awareness of new safety guidelines,
  • An in-house communication campaign (videos, posters, emailing, talks, etc.) linked to a Safety theme is set up every year (e.g.: Shared Vigilance, Hand Protection, Manual Handling of Loads, etc.),
  • An annual Safety Challenge is held at all FOSELEV Group branches, to encourage excellence in safety.

Since its creation, the FOSELEV Group has placed the Safety of its employees at the heart of its priorities, an essential factor in its development, the satisfaction of its customers and the well-being of its employees. This is reflected in the resources and investments dedicated to Safety each year, with a budget of over 2.5 million euros, and in our involvement as an active member of the MASE standard.

12 Safety Pillars

The aim of Work Preparation is :

  • Inform each worker in advance of the conditions under which he or she will perform the work,
  • Comply with operating instructions and work permits,
  • Analyze possible risks before starting a task, and how to prevent them.

The Use of Personal Protective Equipment requires three principles of precaution to be taken into account:

  • Identify the individual protection required in the work area (customer sites or branches),
  • Equip yourself with the right protection for the risks involved,
  • Regularly check the conformity and state of preservation of PPE used.

Aware that everyone has a key role to play in the safety of all, FOSELEV encourages its employees to apply the gestures of Shared Vigilance:

  • Intervene if you notice a serious and imminent danger or an uncontrolled risk situation for yourself and others,
  • Take responsibility for your own safety and that of others: alert to “save”,
  • Concentrate and apply yourself to your task.

Management of Change involves :

  • Analyzing whether the change in the situation alters safe working conditions,
  • Stopping work if safety conditions are no longer met,
  • Consulting a supervisor if in doubt about the work to be carried out.

Circulation and Movement are governed by basic rules that considerably reduce risks by taking care to :

  • Be attentive and focused when moving on foot or with a vehicle,
  • Use the access roads and lanes provided for movement,
  • Respect the 3 support points for getting on and off the machines.

Manual Load Handling operations are subject to strict rules to ensure the Health and Safety of our employees:

  • Assess the operation to be carried out,
  • Favoring the use of mechanical aids,
  • Apply good Gestures and Postures practices according to the effort to be made.

As with all types of equipment, the Use of Tools requires the observance of certain rules to ensure the safety of our employees:

  • Use the right tools for the right job,
  • Regularly check tooling for conformity: working order, wear, absence of deformation, etc,
  • Isolate any faulty equipment and inform the dedicated department so that it can be replaced.

The rules for carrying out a safe Lifting Operation:

  • Carry out a suitability check before lifting: load mass/center of gravity, lifting accessories, suitable work area (ground, airspace, etc.), co-activity, etc,
  • Be trained and qualified according to your role: crane operator, slinger, foreman,
  • Use lifting equipment correctly: secure wedging, locking of beams, suitable CEC configuration, compliance with load charts,
  • Use slinging equipment appropriate to the load to be lifted: choice of equipment, slinging method, protection of sharp edges.

Working at Heights must meet specific safety criteria:

  • Prioritize the use of appropriate, tested and compliant collective protection,
  • Be trained, qualified and medically fit to work at height (scaffolding, harnesses, aerial work platforms, etc.),
  • Work on approved, compliant and regularly inspected work equipment (scaffolding, aerial work platforms, etc.).

Fire work (grinding and welding operations) requires safety knowledge to limit risks:

  • Visually check the conformity of equipment before each use: equipment, fittings, hoses, safety devices,
  • Work in a safe environment: clear access routes, nearby fire extinguishers, protective tarpaulins, stable equipment,
  • Wear personal protective equipment appropriate to the task in hand (grinding or welding).

Safety principles for High-Pressure Cleaning operations require :

  • Be trained and qualified according to your role: operator, foreman or expert technician,
  • Respect the instructions in the work documents and complete the “High-Pressure” checklist before any intervention,
  • Check the condition of the equipment and the presence of safety devices before starting work: condition of tools/accessories (pistol, hoses, anti-whipping system, hold-to-run control), emergency stop, etc.

Order, Tidiness and Cleanliness are important factors in everyone’s daily safety:

  • Adopt the principles of the “5S” method in the work area: clear, tidy, clean, keep in order, repeat the action,
  • Regularly organize waste disposal and tidy up the work area,
  • Respect waste sorting instructions in the work area.
